PSG's Leandro Paredes leaves for Juventus

Christophe Galtier, coach of Paris Saint Germain, confirmed yesterday that Leandro Paredes reached an agreement with Juventus.

The 28-year-old Argentina international has expressed his desire to leave PSG, which stems from his lack of play time under Galtier. At Juventus, the midfielder hopes to get enough minutes on the pitch to be in top shape for the Qatar World Cup.

Despite his friendship with stars Lionel Messi and Neymar, Paredes made the decision to leave PSG to ensure that he arrives for Argentina in the best form possible.

In Turin, Paredes will reconnect with old friend and fellow Argentinean Angel DiMaria. They played together at PSG from 2019 until June of this year, when DiMaria went to Juve following the end of his contract. Under Argentina's coach Lionel Scaloni, Paredes, DiMaria, and Messi (and few others) enjoyed continental success by winning Copa América in 2021, breaking a 28-year-long losing streak for Argentina.

PSG signed Paredes in January of 2019, for €40 million. With the French champions, Paredes played 117 matches and scored 3 goals.

Paredes will be returning to Serie A, after having played for Chievo Verona, Roma, and Empoli between 2014-2017. During those years he played 71 matches, scored 6 goals, and provided 2 assists. In 2017, Paredes signed with Russian giants Zenit, playing 61 matches, and scoring 10 goals in two seasons.
